CAUSERINA HOUSE ORPHANAGE AND FEED 500 PROGRAM
Following a chance conversation in a radiotherapy waiting area between Dana Elsworth (TEDS lady) and Kate Mitchell one day, toys have now gone out to Africa from Ringwood! Kate visited TEDS and told us all about an orphanage in the village of Utange in Kenya where new born babies and children were looked after, fed and educated. Also, children in surrounding villages were fed once a week in a FEED 500 program, where the people at the orphanage cooked a hot meal for these 500 or more children every Saturday. Some children walk for miles to get this food and are also given a bag of maize to carry back so they have something to eat when they return home. Kate travelled out in early January to help educate the children, interact with them, help cook food or work growing crops, whatever is needed.
Here is the link to the orphanage facebook page and some wonderful videos of her with the children. If you're inspired to go and do the same, then all contact details are found on the pages too!!
